Initial Meeting
It’s important that you like the type of jewellery that I make. Usually clean and simple lines yet elegant and timeless. If this speaks to you then we are already halfway there.
It is also vital that we build up trust between us. You are entrusting me with your precious jewellery and I make every effort to keep them safely secure whilst they are in my keeping.
Remodelling may be a new concept for you so to get us started a few pictures of your jewellery sent to me will help. Also, thoughts on what you might like so that I can start a Pinterest board where we can have some fun sharing ideas on likes and also dislikes.
I also recommend sending anything through the post via Royal Mail Special 24 hr delivery tracked and traced system.
Assess Jewellery
With your agreement, I take the jewellery apart and separate the gold into their correct carat, then weigh and calculate the scrap value. If I am unsure, I can test the gold using a chemical testing kit and if needed send it off to be assessed by a scrap company. I do make a small handling charge for using the scrap service. A complete list of the scrap metal will be sent to you.
I then authenticate any diamonds and if required, identify other stones. I do charge a small fee for this work as it is a long and slow process. This will be in the final quote or be charged separately if you decide not to go ahead. All jewellery, metal and stones that are not used in the new design will be returned with the finished product.
Follow up meeting
If it is not possible to have a personal meeting, then I have very successfully held meetings via Zoom and Facetime. Covid was good for somethings!
Create new design with drawings and CAD design
I shall hold your hand throughout the entire process. It is so important to listen to you, and understand how you wear your jewellery today – to see what will suit you (and your life-style) best, to share ideas, and make sure you are completely happy with the final design.
Agree quote
I shall send you a complete quote and payment details. I would like half of the amount paid on acceptance of the quote and half on completion. The amount that is in scrap if any will be deducted from the final quote.
Make design
The design will be made and hallmarked and I shall keep you in the loop throughout the process. This could take on average 6 – 8 weeks.
